Investigation teams

We have two investigation teams in the regional organised crime unit (ROCU), which use a range of specialist tactics to carry out covert investigations into organised crime groups.

We're currently in the process of recruiting a number of DCs/PCs, Detective Sergeants and a Detective Inspector to created a third investigation team. View the vacancies here.

Here one of the Detective Constables in the team talks about her decision to join the team:

"I had worked in child protection for four years and was a response officer for four years prior to that, before I decided to join ERSOU.

"I joined one of the investigation teams in the regional organised crime unit (ROCU) in March 2019 and during that time I’ve been trained in a number of different skills, including surveillance and advance driving which are the best courses I’ve done in the police so far.

"I’d never considered working in covert policing before and I wasn’t sure my background would be the right fit, but the more I discovered the more interested I was and despite it being a world away from child protection, I’ve still been able to bring value to the team with my own experiences and qualifications.

"This role is so different from any other policing role I’ve had before. I love that we are covertly investigating and disrupting organised crime groups who cause misery to others, be it through importation of drugs, firearms, or people trafficking.

"You never know what’s going to happen when you’re out on the ground, which can be scary but also hugely enjoyable."
